Plain terms for a private family archive.

Items marked [TO BE COMPLETED] need the operator's legal identity and jurisdiction. Everything else describes how the software actually behaves and is accurate as written. This is not legal advice and should be read by somebody qualified before it is relied on.

1. What you get

A private photo archive for one family, the Android app for it, and the web player for sharing individual stories. Archives are set up individually — there is no self-service sign-up, and no family's archive is ever mixed with another's.

2. Your content is yours

Photos, stories, drawings and names you add remain yours. You grant us only what is needed to run the service for you: storing your files, serving them to people you have shared them with, and making the derived copies the software needs — thumbnails, previews, and the video file a shared story plays from.

We claim no other rights. Nothing in your archive is used for advertising, sold, or used to train any model.

3. What you are responsible for

Having the right to add the photos you add.
Who you share stories with. A link sent outside the family can be forwarded by whoever receives it.
Keeping administrator passwords and pairing codes to yourself.
Backups, if the archive runs on your own hardware. A machine in a house can be stolen, flooded or simply fail. See clause 6.

4. What you must not do

Upload material you have no right to, or that is unlawful.
Use another family's archive, or try to.
Attempt to reach administrative parts of the service you have not been given access to.

5. Deletion, and what it means here

Deleting a story stops it being served, at once and everywhere. It does not destroy the story's file — that is a deliberate design decision, described in the help, so that a mis-tap cannot end something nobody can record again. The person who made it can restore it.

Genuine destruction of a story, or of a whole archive, is done on request: delete my account.

6. Availability, backups and loss

Where the archive runs on hardware you own, its availability and its backups are yours. Where we host it for you, we will take reasonable care and keep backups, but no service is perfect.

Keep your own copy of anything irreplaceable. Every story can be saved as an ordinary video file that needs none of our software to play, and we would rather you had one.

7. Changes

We may change the software, and will tell you before anything changes how your existing archive behaves. If we ever stop offering the service we will give reasonable notice and a way to take everything with you in open formats.

8. Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. 9. Ending it

You can stop at any time and take your archive with you. We may end the service for a family that breaks clause 4, after telling them why and giving a chance to put it right, except where the breach is serious enough to require acting immediately.
